Lakmé Iyengar is a cinematographer based in LA. Raised in Australia, Lakmé developed an interest in still photography which led her down the road of motion picture. She worked in Australia as a cinematographer on short films and documentaries as well as a camera assistant on music videos, features and television. Lakmé moved to Los Angeles to pursue her MFA in Cinematography at the American Film Institute, where she further refined her storytelling and collaborative skills. Lakmé was accepted into Film Independent’s Project Involve Fellowship in 2023 as a cinematographer, and is also currently a mentee as part of the ASC’s Vision Mentorship program. She is passionate about working with like minded individuals and exploring stories that focus on minority experiences.
